About
I love handwritten notes.
I've loved them for as long as I can remember. Under my bed, I've got a box full of them from years of the kindness and thoughtfulness of others. This business was built out of a desire to create something that would inspire others to send beauty to someone they care about.
Being born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, I've always known southern hospitality. To me, a handwritten note is a natural part of that. Getting a letter can make you feel both at home and transported to better times. It's a little slice of magic that we all have access to. All we have to do is tap in.
Leaving Louisiana to go to college at the University of Texas at Austin, I found a whole new world. The arts are alive and well in Austin. I studied Television and Film, got my degree, and moved out west to Los Angeles to pursue my dream of being a television writer.
The journey in LA started off rough - it took months to get my first job in the entertainment industry. But once I got going, I was going.
Until I wasn't.
After working as a production assistant on a few shows (The Bachelorette and Shark Tank, to name a couple), I got the incredible opportunity to work for a producer at NCIS: Los Angeles. And after that, I landed on a Netflix show called Daybreak. I was making my way through Hollywood the best I could. My progress excited me along with my family and friends. I was doing it! I was working in television and getting closer and closer to my dream.
Unfortunately, dreams don't always play out how we hope.
Daybreak got cancelled, and the team disbanded (though we still keep in touch, and I'm so thankful for the wonderful people I met).
I was looking for work in early 2020 when the coronavirus sent us all to our homes, locked away and unsure of what would happen next. In the seemingly endless days of quarantine, I worked on personal writing, played music, read voraciously, and went on quite a few long walks. One day, a friend told me how much she loved the birthday card I sent. She thought it was so cute - and that I made it seem effortless. She asked if I did any other type of art, and I showed her some of my old paintings. She loved them.
That moment, the seed of Lexbabs Creative was planted. I started brainstorming, planning, making lists, and getting input from friends. Things took off quickly, and here we are! It's been a whirlwind, but I am beyond thankful. And now - thank YOU. Thanks for reading, shopping, sharing, and supporting.
With love,Alexa
